Sulfur - S

Sulfur levels in sea water can be 904 ppm (2.65g/l as Sulfate)

Acceptable Sulfur levels in your aquarium should be between 30 and 930 ppm

Atomic Number: 16
Atomic Name: Sulfur
Atomic Symbol: S
Sea Water Value: 904 ppm Specific Gravity: 2.07

Sulfur levels in your aquarium:

Almost all marine organisms have the ability to convert Sulfur into needed nutrients. Sulfur in excessive amounts combined with anoxic conditions will lead to the formation of Hydrogen Sulfide, which can be toxic to organisms. Natural Sulfur levels are required in your aquarium to help maintain beneficial biological processes.

If your Sulfur levels are too high and you are using a Sulfur denitrator, try adjusting to a lower flow rate and change your carbon filter after a 20% water change.

A Sulfur denitrator is a denitrification system that incorporates bacteria, which use Sulfur to convert NO3 (Nitrates) into N2 (Nitrogen).
