Many aquarists that have been in the hobby for years are not aware of the prevalence,
in natural seawater, and benefits of Potassium in their closed systems. Potassium
is an abundant element in the ocean and has a significant impact on beneficial bacteria
growth and substrate penetration.
Some aquarists claim improved coloration on SPS corals, however, more research is
needed in this area before we will recommend Potassium as a supplement for this
application.
Potassium levels can be maintained through regular water changes using a good quality
salt mix. As Potassium is added by foods, minimal dosing should be required to
maintain natural sea water levels.
