Manganese is essential for photosynthesis as well as many associated biochemical
reactions. Phytoplanktons are known to utilize Manganese.
Most aquarists will not need to dose for Manganese nor remove it from their tap
water. Typical tap water will not contain more than 0.05ppm as it tends to stain
plumbing fixtures and laundry. However, individuals using groundwater as their source
will have to contend with elevated levels, which will result in microbial growths
in the system.
