Magnesium - Mg

Magnesium levels found in sea water are 1280 - 1320 ppm

Acceptable Magnesium levels in your aquarium are between 1200 and 1350 ppm

Atomic Number: 12
Atomic Name: Magnesium
Atomic Symbol: Mg
Sea Water Value: 1280 ppm Specific Gravity: 1.738

Magnesium levels in your aquarium:

Magnesium is used by most life forms and should be available in large quantities. Maintaining Magnesium levels slightly above 1300 ppm will drastically aid in elevating and maintaining the systems Calcium and Alkalinity to optimal levels.

Lab Aquatics recommends a pH of 8.4, an Alkalinity of 9 dKH and a Calcium level of 400 ppm for most reef systems. Maintained using either a Calcium reactor or Kalkwasser dosing and carbonate buffer. Testing and dosing Magnesium should be performed after each water change until dosing levels can be determined for your unique system demands.
