Magnesium is used by most life forms and should be available in large quantities. Maintaining Magnesium levels slightly above 1300 ppm will drastically aid in elevating
and maintaining the systems Calcium and Alkalinity to optimal levels.
Lab Aquatics recommends a pH of 8.4, an Alkalinity of 9 dKH and a Calcium level
of 400 ppm for most reef systems. Maintained using either a Calcium reactor or Kalkwasser
dosing and carbonate buffer. Testing and dosing Magnesium should be performed after
each water change until dosing levels can be determined for your unique system demands.
