Lithium is a necessary trace element in our closed systems and can be maintained
withing exceptable levels through regular water changes using a good quality salt
mix.
Care should be taken in a reef system as to not exceed the acceptable Lithium levels
indicated here as it has been found that Lithium has a significant effect on the
development of marine organisms, such as, Sea Urchins, Zebrafish, Dictyostelium
and Xenopus.
Lithium overdosing is possible through the overuse of multi element suppliments
as many contain Lithium in varying quantities. Care should be taken to determine
the levels available through regular water changes using a good quality
salt mix before begining a dosing regimine.
